A historical journey
The museum of Protestantism in Haut Languedoc and its library let everyone know about the history of Protestantism in this region of southern France. Located near the Ferrieres castle, a Tarn medieval fortress ( XIIth-XVIth century) it is a magnificent setting to real history.
The Lacaune Mountains, the Montagnol Forest and the Sidobre were not
easily connected to Albi, Castres, Mazamet that is why Protestants
could escape from the Royal Armies.
A unique collection
The library of the museum has a collection of about 13000 books, 400 magazines, 300 illustrations and documents. It maintains the conservation of an important local heritage that goes on increasing.
History and life of the families
The genealogy section of the museum deals with the protestant families of the Tarn towns (Mazamet, Castres, Albi) and of the Lacaune and Lauragais Mountains between the XVIth and the XVIIIth century. It brings the important moments of family life into special light. |
